A year ago we were just getting to know our sweet, mischievous smiley baby boy, Alexander Grant.
Obviously this has been a year of firsts for the dear boy, but we tried to pack in a few the past couple of weeks for him as well.
He had a great birthday weekend. On our weekly Friday night Cafe Hollander visit, Alex actually got his own kids' dinner. He devoured it...well, he at all the sweet potato fries promptly and eventually tried some burger and fruit!
We headed down to Bradford beach Saturday morning. Since the boys get up so early, we get to experience the beach well before the rest of Milwaukee shows up. Alex hasn't quite figured out the sand toys yet.
Although none of us actually swam out to the buoy, Clayton thought about it. He settled for filling up buckets in the shore surf.
On Sunday, we spent some time at the play ground. Alex can actually climb on some of the equipment on his own now...
...and he loves going down the slide on his own.
Nana and Papa were nice enough to come down and celebrate Alex's birthday. He enjoyed a hotdog and fruit salad lunch (the grown ups got a bit better fare).
He was not so excited about his birthday cake. Didn't really want to have anything to do with it.
Nana gave Alex this great ride-on toy. Alex LOVED it. Even within the last week, his skills at riding this on his own increased amazingly!
Aunt Robin, Uncle Mike, Avery & Gavin sent some great toys, including this amazing lawn mower. Alex hasn't played with it too much yet, but Clayton has mowed our yard daily. Ryan is forever grateful for the planting of that seed of interest!
An a photo of our 52-week-old boy!
I remember early summers with Clayton - just sitting out on our front steps watching the world go by. Alex has clearly reached that stage. He loves just sitting out there and pointing at every little interesting thing that goes by.
Clayton...not so much anymore. He's so over it.
Soon after these lovely out door pics, our sweet 1 year old came down with Strep...boo hiss. It was a hectic first week of his second year. We had wonderful friends who were able to spend some time with our sweet sick boy so that Ryan and I could go to work....
Friday night cuddles with Dad...right before they both went to bed very early. Here's hoping this next week is a little less sickly....
