February 2014 - The Longest Month...EVER!

Yes, I do know that technically that it is not possible for February to be the longest month.  But, man, this past one was a doozy that seemed to go on and on and on...This may also be the longest post ever just to finally get myself caught back up.  So, here it goes...

The first week of the month was fairly routine.  Alex recovered (or so we thought) from his double ear infections, double eye infections and bronchiolitis.  He seemed to be back to his happy self.

As usual - he loved hanging out with his big brother.

Somehow I neglected to take a week 29 photo - so we're going to call this one it!

Then...the chaos started.  At some point in our life, Ryan and I thought that a week long family trip to Seattle so that I could attend my annual work conference would be a good idea.  Well...we can certainly call it a memorable week - with moments of fun and more moments of sleep deprivation and exhaustion.

Clayton was so excited to travel, especially to have the opportunity to carry his own luggage!  What a big boy!

I had high hopes for the weather in Seattle, but alas there was a freak snow storm the day we arrived! It melted pretty quickly, but it was still a tad more chilly than I was counting on.  We continued to explore the city.  Clayton thought this whale tail statue was pretty cool.

We walked to the Market on several occasions.  You can see the fish throwers right behind Clayton on the pig.

A family of four spending a whole week in one room is a bit much.  But it does bring about some close bonding moments!  I LOVE this photo of my boys!

The pictures of the boys sleeping are pretty adorable too - unfortunately, moments like those captured below were few and far between.

We went to the pool almost daily.  Clayton loved "swimming" and learned how to jump in off the edge.

We went to the Seattle aquarium one day.  Alex was a good sport.

Clayton enjoyed riding the whales.

Another day we rode the monorail to the Space Needle.

Here we are in the cheesy "free" photo.

Clayton enjoyed exploring all of the interesting things up at the top of the Needle.

The boys hanging out together on our last day.

Alex's Week 30 photo.

Hanging in the airport before we caught the plane home.

Both boys did really well on the flights, but Clayton was great at putting himself to sleep.  What a sweetie.

So we get home, and....we all get sick.  One right after the other.  First Alex, Ryan, Me and then Clayton.  It's been LOVELY! :(

Alex spent one sick day falling asleep in his jumper-ooo.

Somehow, he kept his smile.

Unfortunately, Alex and Ryan weren't the only ones to require medical attention this week.  Oma took a nasty spill on the ice and broke her femur!  We made a quick trip to Goshen to visit her and also spent some time at the new house.

Here's the week 31 (+ 2 days) photo - the bags are a bit bigger under his eyes, but that's about it.

The following week I and Clayton came down with the same bug that Alex and Ryan had.  Before Clayton was too ill, the two boys bathed together.

I got a new contraption that gives Alex some support so that he can sit by himself in the tub.  He loves it!

By mid-week, Clayton was feeling pretty out of it, so he spent 3 days home.  Fortunately, Nana was able to come down and spend a few days with C.

Finally, we're all on the mend.  Our sweet baby Alex - 32 weeks old...

...outgrowing his clothes almost as quickly as we put them on him.

whoah, that was a doozy of a month, Jenn! It's fun to read your updates. We really DO need to figure out a way to meet up sometime- maybe this spring we could meet up in MKE for a kid-friendly outing?
