2012 Downer Classic

Each year our neighborhood hosts a day of fantastic bike races.  Since our house is in the middle of the route, we're often "locked in" to watching.  This year we invited family and friends to come and join us for BBQ and watching bike races.  Here are Ryan and Clayton gearing up for the start of the races.

Aunt Lisa, Uncle Breck, Eliza and Leo joined us early in the day and watched some of the early races.

We had a great group up for dinner.

Clayton and Leo were too young to ride in the kiddie race this year, but we know that they'll be ready for the 2013 race.

The kids discovered that the hill in our front yard was tons of fun to slide down.

Clayton had his first popsicle.  He wasn't too sure about how to eat it at first.

But he figured it out pretty quickly.

By the end, he was clearly enjoying it.  Though the shirt did not make out so well.

On the 4th, Clayton and I ventured down the street to watch our neighborhood parade.  Clayton loved it and even rode in the parade for a couple of blocks.  Next year, I'm sure he'll be able to ride alone and we'll make sure the bike is a bit more decorated!
